TO SECURE, PROTECT, AND DEFEND: A Seminar to Provide Education and Discuss the Importance of Legal Protections
Equality Illinois Education Project and the Leather Archives & Museum [LA&M] are coming together to host a seminar day to educate people on the importance of the Illinois civil union bill (House Bill 1826) and legal protections for the LGBT community.
Representatives from the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago [LAGBAC] will be on hand to guide the attendees through the process of creating protective documents such as living wills and powers of attourney, and discuss the importance of creating a will.
In addition, Rep. Greg Harris will be speaking along with Rick Garcia (Public Policy Officer, Equality Illinois) and Chuck Renslow (LA&M President) on the status of the bill and the impact it will have on the community.
The event will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2008, from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Space will be provided by the The Leather Archives & Museum. The LA&M is located at 6418 N. Greenview, Chicago, IL 60626.
